Unleash the full potential of your Mitsubishi Triton 2.5!
Tests independently conducted by Adrian Burford of Roadworks cc
Mitsubishi Motors has launched the Mitsubishi Triton DiD into South Africa’s highly competitive leisure and light commercial vehicle market. The Triton is initially available only as double cab 4x4 and boasts an all-new common rail direct injection powerplant. The new 2.5 litre, turbocharged, intercooled Triton engine is a much quieter, cleaner and more economical than ever before.
It also helps in producing a very decent 100 kW at 3 500 rpm and 314 Nm of torque at 2 000 rpm in the below 3.0 litre turbodiesel class. This power and torque does a sufficient job of providing drive for the Triton, but if there is one draw back, it is that the Triton never seems to have a huge amount of urge at any point through the rev range. And the tested figures back this feeling up with the 0-100 km/h sprint coming up in almost 16 seconds and the in-gear acceleration in 5th gear also being a bit on the slow side.
By simply fitting a plug and play Power Plug to the vehicle, instant performance urge is safely and reliably added. The Triton 2.5 now feels more like a 3.0 litre turbodiesel and, no matter where you are in the rev range; a prod of the right foot invokes serious acceleration.

Once again the figures back this up with the 0-100 km/h mark coming up in just over 14 seconds now while the in-gear acceleration shows massive gains of almost 3 seconds anywhere tested. The good news is that should you want even more from your Triton, there is a Power Cooler upgrade that can be offered with the Power Plug and this sees even more urge added to this impressive newcomer.

All Tests conducted at Gerotek Proving Ground at Reef altitude. All Gerotek test results are an average of two runs in opposite directions. Fuel tank full, driver only. Test data compiled by Adrian Burford of Roadworks, using Racelogic Vbox Test Equipment.
The Dastek performance chip is pre-programmed on a Dynometer, with our extensive ECU tuning / mapping tools, to take into account the tough South African conditions, such as high altitudes, long distances, high speeds, high temperatures and various qualities of diesel. Accurate ECU chip tuning and performance mapping ensures that your Mitsubishi Triton 2.5 performs at its best with effective diesel consumption, power and reliability.
